The Crime

On Friday, August 8, 2003 at about 7:45PM the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office received a call of an automobile accident. Deputies were dispatched to Riverside Grove and Ashlawn Drive ( Mission Glen subdivision). Upon arrival, a paramedic with the Community Fire Department advised Deputies that the occupant in the vehicle was deceased from what appeared to be a gunshot wound. The victim was identified as Daryl Michael Hayes. According to witnesses, the vehicle had driven down Ashlawn Drive slowly and then accelerated rapidly across Riverside Grove through a yard and slammed into a light pole. Witnesses said that they heard an unknown person yell "call 9-1-1". They also stated that two individuals were seen running from the scene.


The Suspect

A warrant for Murder has been issued for Jason Alexander Smith. He is described as a Black Male, 5" 11" to 6" tall and slender build.He has a tattoo of oriental writing on his left forearm and on his right forearm is the word "Smitty". Jason Alexander Smith uses the nickname of "Smitty". He may be attempting to travel to Wichaita, Kansas.
