Crime Stoppers, Inc. began in 1976 as an effort to aid law enforcement: Detective Greg MacAleese of the Albuquerque Police Department started the organization as a tool in the fight against crime in the United States that involves ordinary citizens who often have knowledge and information that is useful and needed.
Internationally and in the United States, over 600 organizations were in place as of 1986. Today, there are over 1,200 Crime Stoppers,Inc. organizations world wide in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, South Africa, Bahamas, British West Indies, Micronesia, and other nations.
Fort Bend County Crime Stoppers, Inc. began its work in August 1, 1981 and has been in continuous operation since then. As Fort Bend County grows so does the Fort Bend County Crime Stoppers. The Fort Bend County Crime Stoppers operates with only nonpaid volunteers. We do not have any salaried personnel in the Organization. The Fort Bend County Crime Stoppers, Inc. serve all of the Law Enforcement agencies in Fort Bend County. It has become necessary to utilize all of the modern technology available to keep pace with one of the fastest growing counties in Texas.
